May your struggles keep you near the cross

May your troubles show that you need God

May your battles end the way they should

May your bad days prove that God is good

May your whole life prove that God is good

What beautiful words written to identify with those who have imperfect days and imperfect seasons and imperfect moments ... all of humanity.

Jonathan McReynolds was dead on when he wrote these. And I assume he was able to do so from the truth that is his own life.

How freeing it is to know that the life canvas we'd hoped to be spotlessly pristine actually has warps and tears and holes and stray marks all over it. And yes, there were impasses where we could've made better choices ... choices that would have prevented some of the marks, but there are other blemishes that are there because God knows His creations need hard stuff to peel back the layers of who we are.

And so, I'm grateful for the scars I have ONLY because God [and only God] can use them as proof that He can take a mess and beautify it. He can recover misspent energy and time and tears and funds and words and so on.

He's the MASTER recover-er, and I will not foolishly live as if He isn't the only One.

Yes, my struggles will keep me near the cross.

Yes, my troubles, indeed, show me I need God.

Yes, my battles will end the way they should because I know that ...

My bad days will prove that God is good.

I vow to Him [in each day, through each moment] that my whole life will prove that He is good.
