It’s amazing how God avails Himself to reveal what He wants us to know about Him and His attributes. My husband Kwesi, our boys, and I just spent 13 days in my home state of Texas with family to celebrate my baby sister’s wedding. What a great occasion it was! I almost don’t want to try and go through, in detail, the reasons why it was so great, but I will give it a quick GO!

NOSTALGIA AT ITS BEST
From seeing former high school volleyball teammates that I hadn't seen SINCE HIGH SCHOOL to, of course, spending time with both my mom’s and dad’s sides of the family, to just being on my home turf with the huge multiple lane highways on which one can travel at higher speeds than I’ve witnessed here on the East Coast, to visiting with friends and their families who were constants for me throughout my childhood into adulthood … it was fun-loving and inspiring all around.

When we went to one of my former churches with my step dad on Sunday, I was overwhelmed with God’s availability to us NO MATTER WHERE WE ARE … be it in our normal everyday lives intermingled among the mundane and ordinary, or be it on vacation thousand of miles away from our normal … whether we worship at our home church or at the church we attended when we were a child and of which we've not been a member for years and years.

It was wonderfully refreshing to be welcomed, greeted, and loved on by family I hadn't seen in years, friends of my mom, family members of my step dad, and loooooong time family friends of my dad's side, some of whom hadn't seen me since I was a little girl … and they wore genuinely happy smiles and hugged me as if they'd been missing me on a daily basis since they last saw me … PLUS, they looked so well kept by the Lord … even in that, I saw and experienced the goodness of God … He is so amazing.

GOD IN ALL OF IT
In addition, the feedback Kwesi consistently gave me about how he enjoys being around my family (family members he’s known since we were courting and those he’d never met before this trip) was truly encouraging because he opened up about the inspiring characteristics within my family that he longs to see in his own.
My bottom line (before this piece loses focus -- if it hasn’t already since my children are literally jumping around me as I type) is that as an adult having just visited what and whom I’ve known since I was a child … I am seeing how God has kept and worked and adjusted and guided and anointed and loved on and just been consistent throughout many lives connected to me up to this point. He has been present and active in my life and the lives of those I’ve known for many years, and if one pays attention, one will continue to witness His goodness and “Godness” in all of it.
